Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is a surgical procedure under the overarching category of oral surgery. This surgery becomes a necessity often when the patient's jaw bone is not thick enough, or not dense enough for future needs. This procedure entails transplanting a piece of bone from an area of the jaw or body, to an area of the jawbone.

The best results are usually achieved when the bone that is transplanted is the patient’s, but in some cases, an artificial replacement needs to be used. These other materials are usually artificial bone or bone fragments from a tissue bank. When the jaw bone blinds with the new material, the structure becomes stronger, creating a more stable and usable foundation.

We often recommend these procedures for those with thin or not dense jaw bones because if left alone, these jaw bones are not valid locations for dental implants or other types of treatments. When a tooth is lost or removed, the jawbone begins to deteriorate or reabsorb, leaving the location of the missing tooth weak.

This weak spot must be corrected before treatments like dental implants can take place. Even though bone grafting is usually used for procedures like dental implantation, it can also sometimes be needed in advanced cases of periostitis. This procedure can help bones damaged from the disease heal and regain strength.

Braces for Kids

One of the best times for orthodontic treatments is childhood, while kids are growing and developing. As they are still developing, we can guide aspects like teeth and jaw alignment to prevent issues as they grow, while addressing any issues that we notice. One thing our team can offer are braces to aid in aligning your child's teeth and giving them a more beautiful and healthier smile.

Braces are a great orthodontic treatment option for almost any child. They gradually and carefully realign their teeth using a structure of metal brackets, bands, and wires. Attached to the front part of the teeth, the brackets are connected with wires and bands and do most of the heavy lifting realigning the teeth. As we adjust the wire, the child's teeth will be aligned into the optimal position.

Braces are used for a lot of different reasons, including:

  • Over crowded teeth
  • Teeth that appear crooked
  • Teeth with gaps
  • Incorrectly aligned teeth
  • Bite issues (overbite, underbite, crossbite, etc.)

Throughout the orthodontic treatment your child will visit us frequently to ensure that the braces are being adjusted correctly and that the process is going as planned.

Your Child's First Appointment

The AAPD, or American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, suggests that children visit a dental professional to receive an exam and assessment within six months of their first visible tooth. These primary dental visits are important and created so that you establish a dental home for your child and they begin to develop positive associations with the dentist.

A normal pediatric dental appointment will include:

  • Greeting your child as they are introduced to the dental team
  • A Review of health history of family and infant  for important background
  • Questions about oral health, pacifier use, diet, and similar topics
  • Performing a gentle and careful examination if the child's teeth and gums, during this we will note any incoming teeth
  • Addressing any questions or concerns you or your child has

Children often look to their parents for reassurance and how to act. This is especially evident during dental visits. As long as you keep calm and positive, your child will as well. As we continue to meet with you and your child we encourage you to make positive associations with the dentist by avoiding negative language.

If you have any questions about your child's first dental appointment, please don't wait to contact us today!

Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges can be a great solution to revitalize your smile whether you are missing one, or several teeth. Anchored in place via the use of two custom fit crowns, dental bridges are a permanent solution and are not able to be removed. The crowns, which can be placed on a real or artificial tooth, aid in keeping the bridge stable and avoiding any kind of harmful movement of the bridge in the mouth. To implement these bridges, it usually requires only two visits, and leaves you with a restored smile that will look great and function better for years to come.

Our team may decide a Dental Bridge is a great choice for you because it:

  • Reduces excess stress when biting
  • Allows you to speak, chew, and eat normally
  • Replaces a removable, undesirable denture
  • Keeps natural teeth in their correct position
  • Enhances the volume and shape of your face
  • Elevates your smile

At Beyond Dental Health, we will work with you to determine if a custom dental bridge is the best option for revitalizing your smile post tooth loss. To schedule your consultation or for more information, don’t hesitate to contact us and get your smile looking like new, today.

Root Canal Therapy

Also referred to as simply a root canal, this therapy is a subset of endodontic therapy often suggested if the tooth nerves or pulp become damaged or infected. This often happens to be the case when decay or tooth injury becomes severe enough to reach the inner parts of the tooth, past the outside protective layer. Left untreated, this can cause the tooth to die, and lead to a necessary extraction. To revitalize the tooth and eliminate the need for extraction, our expert team of dentists will remove the affected tissues from inside the tooth, clean the area, and fill it with medicated materials. Then the tooth is capped with a restoration, such as a dental crown, to ensure proper restoration and return to proper shaping. Often, this procedure takes as little as a single visit to the office, however, you may need additional appointments depending on the client.

Root canal treatment is thought to be uncomfortable and cause pain. However, root canal treatment can often be completed with minimal discomfort thanks to anesthesia. Our dental team works hard to provide you with a pleasant and comfortable experience each time you enter our office. To learn more about root canal treatment, contact us today or visit our website. We devote ourselves to restoring your healthy smile.
